Kids & Teens Room - Homebliss

Kids & Teens Room

The biggest challenge in decorating a kid’s bedroom is the fact that the room will need to accommodate the changes needed as the child grows and matures. There are a few basic things to keep in mind, if you don’t want to end up with a beautifully decorated room that your child outgrows before you know it.

When choosing furniture for your kid’s room, keep things simple. A fairy princess bed may seem like a fun idea when your kid is 6, but not so much when she turns 15. Same thing applies to the colors or wallpapers you choose. The closer they are to a neutral palette, the lesser will be the need to change them in the near future.

But that doesn’t mean you keep their room devoid of the fun elements. You can always add colorful accents with accessories that can be changed easily as the child grows.

You will also need to bear in mind that your kid will need space to move, play and have friends over. Design the space in your child’s room with his age in mind.

Most importantly, let your kid have a say in designing his or her room. This will make sure their private space has elements of their personality and is a place that they are happy spending time in.

Marine Ply
Marine plywood is a waterproof plywood in which strong face and core veneers are glued together using a waterproof adhesive, ensuring that there are minimal voids in the material so that it is able to perform well in humid conditions resisting delamination or fungal infestation. This makes it a popular choice in areas where water exposure is expected like kitchens and bathrooms in homes, factories and the shipping industry.

Particle Board
This type of board is made from wood chips compressed and glued together as sheets. Its low density and weight make it ideal for tall panels for wardrobe doors even over 9 feet. It comes in a wide variety of colors and is used by many globally reputed furniture brands. It is a great low-cost option when compared with other boards with its only drawback being that it can't stand exposure to moisture, which restricts its use to areas which aren't exposed to water.

Medium Density Fiber (MDF) Board
MDF is an engineered wood made from real wood remnants broken down into wood fibers which are then compressed under high temperatures and pressure and glued together using a special resin. It is available in a wide variety of textures and colors and has a smooth surface that makes it ideal for painting. It is also a cheaper than plywood.

High Density Fiberboard (HDF) Board
HDF is a homogeneous fiberboard with a smooth surface, and is made from fine, highly compressed wood fiber. It is much stronger than MDF and particle boards and can be cut, drilled and even painted due to its flat surface.

Boiling Waterproof Plywood (BWP)
BWP is a highly durable plywood that can withstand exposure to water and high temperatures and is also resistant to borers and termites. All these qualities make it an even better choice than solid wood.
